Private Alfred Joseph Walker enlisted on the 11th of March 1943, aged 19, at Glenroy, South Australia.
Private Walker served with the 2/27 Battalion in Papua New Guinea and saw action there during the Finisterre Range and Ramu Valley campaigns..
His Battalion was then flown back to Port Moresby for R & R after which he was then redeployed to Balik Papan on the Troop ship Westralia.
The war ended just as Private Alfred Walker landed in Balik Papan so his Battalion were sent back to Australia where Private Alfred Walker was discharged.
